CVAR Event at Eagles Canyon Raceway, May 16th - 18th, 2008

Dear All
CVAR organised and sanctioned a fabulous event at Eagles Canyon Raceway in Dallas this past weekend.
A great series of photos and race results can be seen at:

I'd love to hear your thoughts about what we could do to involve car clubs and others in these events.
Many thanks - Stephen Page

Stephen,
I've already started! I posted a note to our "North Texas Lotus Club" today tweaking them a bit for not turning out in force to support their marque and the seven racers who raced hard in vintage Lotus sports and race cars this weekend. Offering a Lotus "drive around" and a "Lotus corral" parking area would be good.

We enjoyed great racing and the ECR hospitality enormously.

Dear Tony
Thanks for your feedback.
We'll incorporate your suggestions at the next event.
Please post pictures and invite your fellow Lotus club members to join the Lotus Group.
I'd be delighted to talk you through using the Group invite function if you have the membership list in some sort of Excel file.

Stephen, From my perspective you are going to need to do some major improvements in parking and landscaping to attract clubs to want to come along the lines of Road America. Driving access roads around the track with grandstands will go a long way. Trees for shade, electricity, water and camping sites would be a nice addition as well. I realize that the track is young and under development and as funds catch up so should customer infrastructure. My two cents worth.

I agree and would also suggest they improve and widen the run-out areas. Going off shouldn't be a death-defying act. I took a "short-cut" between turns 1 and 2 and had to dodge boulders. At least run a grader over the places where people are likely to go off.
