I just read a great commentary on Jim Hall's legacy. I found it here on www.autoextremist.com. The commentary was focused around the tribute to Gil de Ferran at the ALMS race at Laguna Seca. I loved his comments referring to Jim's demonstration run of the 2E for the crowd:

As I watched Hall come into view on the track in the 2E, the high rear wing and gurgling sound of its V8 Chevy signaled his arrival before the rest of the car became visible. And then for one brief fleeting moment, it seemed to hover there in the shimmering heat waves, its ghost-like white presence momentarily lost...somewhere in a blur of time...

May we always remember and continue to share the wonderful accomplishments that Jim Hall and his Chaparral team have given to the racing heritage!

Speedtv.com has an interesting interview with Jim Hall about the special tribute by Gil de Ferran in his final appearance as a race car driver, which comes next weekend in the American Le Mans Series’ season finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. He is honoring the role Hall played in his career. The No. 66 XM Radio de Ferran Motorsports Acura ARX-02a will race in the famous Chaparral white at Laguna Seca to mark Gil's final race. Here is the link to the interview.

Andrew,

I was looking over your tribute site again this morning and came across a link titled Test Drive 1962 Chaparral. Wow, what a great account! Paul Brown's story telling makes you feel part of the scene. You can almost smell the Castrol and burning rubber. Thanks for sharing all these stories with the rest of us.

I love the site Andrew. I haved added it to my favorites. You might be interested in a video I just added to my page. It's a short video(approx. 10mins) on the 1967 BOAC 500 Sports Car Race at Brands Hatch. As I'm sure you know, this race was Phil Hill's last race and(of course) he won it co-driving with Mike Spence.
