Nearest thing to racing for me was some time ago - mid 1980's up at the local mountain side race track (Westwood) now sadly a housing subdivision. In those days Peter Giddings would show up in his pickup truck / camper towing a small flat bed trailer with his 250F mounted!! We were invited by Peter to park my 1962 3500 GTi next to the 250F and my son Andrew (then about six; now 27 and the owner of a 1980 Merak SS) got to sit in the 250F cockpit. It was neat seeing the racing engine next to the grand touring engine by the same wonderful Maserati engineer Guilio Alfieri - you could see the same hand at work and the engines looked remarkably similar. Also in those days Ivan Zaremba would should up with his classy ensemble - a dark bronze Quattroporte 1 from the mid 1960's towing an equally small flat trailer with his A6G Zagato!! It was wonderful watching both of those marvellous Maserati race cars roaring around the twisty mountainside race course at full song.
