Everyone at the 1969 Daytona 24 thought the battle would be between the Porsche 908s with their long tails and the Ford GT40s. However, the Fords suffered from a blown head gasket and a puncture that caused an accident while the Porsches suffered from faulty camshaft drives and exhaust header problems and failed to finish. The winning car was the Penske prepared Lola T70 MK 3B driven by Mark Donohue and Chuck Parsons.
