The Tim Schenken - Ronnie Peterson Ferrari 312 PB at Daytona 1972

Tim Schenken and Ronnie Peterson drove this factory Ferrari 312 PB at the Daytona 6 Hour in 1972. The 24 hour race was reduced to 6 hours because the FIA had mandated for 1972 that all prototype and sports category cars be limited to 3-liters. Since most of the 3-liter engines were based on Formula One engines there was some fear that they wouldn't last for 24 hours. The FIA pressured Bill France to cut his 24 hour race to 6 hours and he complied. This car came in second and another factory 312 PB came in first. Factory Porsche was not present because they didn't want to build a new 3-liter engine instead concentrating on the Can-Am series where they dominated with their 917 cars.
