Vic Elford and Kurt Ahrens, Jr. drove this Porsche 917 K (#011) at the 1970 Daytona 24 Hours. While the two John Wyer prepared Gulf 917s entered in the race were supposed to be the "official" factory Porsche entries an ongoing power struggle within the Porsche family resulted in this "factory" car being entered in the race. To say the least John Wyer was not pleased. The John Wyer entered Gulf 917's came in 1-2 overall in 1970 but the Porsche Austria 917 failed to finish due to a leak in the fuel cell.
