Confirmed... I looked it up in "Mercedes-Benz Quicksilver Century" by Karl Ludvigsen. Kling won in 1952 after a run in with a buzzard and a host of tire troubles. Basically, he wore the Ferraris down (Lang finished second in another MB, Luigi Chinetti third in a 4.1L Ferrari).

What year did this car win the La Carerra Panamericana race ?? (after the bird flew through the windscreen and they made the "battlefield" modification).
