Jean-Pierre Beltoise and Henri Pescarolo drove this 3-liter V12 Matra MS650 at Daytona in 1970. Matra had planned to race their new MS660 but they were not ready in time. Matra had terrible luck at Daytona even before the race started. They shipped two cars to New York and trucked them to Daytona. They were so secretive about the cars that they didn't want anyone to take pictures of it so they loaded the cars into a van and locked the doors so even the driver didn't have access to the cars. Unfortunately the tie down straps broke loose in the van and both cars suffered damage in transport. Matra had to ship a third car to Daytona to replace needed body parts.
