Jo Siffert in a Porsche 908L at Daytona in 1969

Porsche arrived at Daytona in 1969 with five long-tailed 908s. The only difference to the Porsches that swept Daytona in 1968 was engine size (up from 2.2 liters to 3). Unfortunately defective exhaust systems doomed them to failure almost nearly getting some drivers asphyxiated in their closed cockpits. A Penske Lola T70 Mk. III B would survive long enough to win.
