Peter Schetty and Jacky Ickx drove this factory Ferrari 512S at Daytona in 1970. All three factory cars were literally untested prior to the Daytona race because of bad weather in Italy and labor disputes. In fact the 512 was not homologated by the FIA until the Daytona race was well under way. Being untested meant that they had teething problems during the race and this car failed to finish. However, they did learn a lot from Daytona and won Sebring one month later. Unfortunately for Ferrari the Sebring win would be their only points win in the two years Ferrari raced this car against the Porsche 917.
