While the best his American International Racers team could do in 1968 was 29th at Daytona, he did much better in 1969 entering two Lola T70s. Jim Garner didn't drive in either '68 or '69. He was just the team owner and public face for the team. The car above was driven by Scooter Patrick and Dave Jordan and came in 7th. His other Lola came in second and was driven by Ed Leslie and Lothar Motschenbacher. The winner that year was the Penske Lola T70 Mk. IIIB driven by Mark Donohue and Chuck Parsons. The main reasons that the Lola cars finished so well was because all five of the factory Porsche 908 Coupes failed to finish and mostly due to the same mechanical defect.
