The Antique Automobile Club of America now recognizes the 1988 Mr2 Supercharged Model as a antique now that it is 30 years old. This Japanese car has the unique history as the only Toyota sports car ever imported to America utilizing a supercharged engine.

The Supercharged Model was produced in a limited production model numbers in 1988 and 1989. This Supercharged Model is very valued and was produced entirely with removable T-tops, electric windows and locks, special modified rates on springs and struts, anti-sway bars front and rear, close-ratio 5 speed transmission with internal oiling pump, larger half-shafts, ceramic topped 8:1 pistons, heavy duty flywheel, pressure plate, disc, and throwout bearing.

Although the Japanese market cars have not yet been widely accepted as "collectable" by the exisiting baby-boomer generation who were raised on American muscle cars. The recent auctions in 2018 of the approximately 300+ "handbuilt" Toyota 2000GT's from the 1960's revealed a $1,000,000.00 sales value and a upswing in Asian automobile valuation.
