Willcox, AZ - The newest private motorsports club in the U.S. opened its doors Dec. 12, 2009, offering members unlimited year-round access to its technical, 2.75 mile, 21-turn road course and other amenities. Unlike many nascent motorsports club facilities in the planning stages across the U.S., which are on hold in a down economy pending enough membership sales to lay the track, this grand opening featured a completed circuit with cured asphalt and apex curbing, control tower, observation lounge, quarter-mile dragstrip, paved paddock, locker room and skid pad....plus a 3800-foot runway and airplane hangar. Inde Motorsports Ranch recently received FAA approval for a private-use airport, allowing members the flexibility to fly in and race whenever they wish.

Located some 11 miles from Willcox in southeast Arizona, the track includes 85 feet of elevation change, uphill and downhill corners and straights, positive and negative-camber turns, and a 2200-foot main straight. It can be configured to run two separate courses simultaneously. At near 4000 feet in elevation, it offers cooler temperatures in Summer than most of the region, so climate was a factor in the site decision. Located near Interstate 10, and in proximity to Tucson, Phoenix, Albuquerque and El Paso, the new facility is the brainchild of Graham Dorland, founder and retired CEO of Airborne Express. An avid car collector and enthusiast, Dorland took more than two years to select the 1700-acre site with breathtaking views of surrounding mountains not to mention an accomodating Cochise County Commission, which approved a zoning change from agriculture/ranch to outdoor recreation, and the airstrip's special-use permit.

The track was designed by Barry Ellis, who has an extensive racing background including custom fabrication for high horsepower vehicles. Dorland praised Ellis' pace on the project, noting he "began this project in April and had it done by November." The first phase of private garages is scheduled for completion in March 2010. Inde Motorsports Ranch is currently accepting track day reservations; membership plans begin at $8000 for an annual membership, with various levels, amenities and transferability at higher levels.
