1908 General Motors was a Holding Company

November 1,1904 Durant saved the Buick Motor Company

McLaughlin of Canada tried to purchase Buick Motors for his McLaughlin Car  in Canada but Failed in 1904.

1907 McLaughlin secures a contract with Buick as Durant and the automotive industry was going broke ,McLaughlin was able to get Motors and frames for 15 years at cost plus. The exchange of $500,000.00 in Buick shares for $500,000.00 of McLaughlin shares, giving McLaughlin shares in Buick.

Buick interesting in the fact 1904 capital stock was $300,000.00 and November 19, 1904 went to $500,000.00 ,no Idea what it was when McLaughlin Exchanged his $500,000.00 Shares of McLaughlin stock for Buick as October 11,1907 when McLaughlin incorperated November 20,1907.

The History on General Motors site has Durant making out he is in full control of Buick stock when dealing when in fact it was under McLaughlin at that time.

McLaughlin and Dr. Edwin Ruthven Campbell Durants Son in law were life long friends as the Dr. was born in Port Perry Ontario Just North of Oshawa Ontario Canada,Driving Force a book by Heather Robertson a Canadian is about the McLaughlin Family.

This book tells of when McLaughlin Durant and Dr.Campbell were in Jackson working out the details and McLaughlin says the General Motors was the name of our new Company. The Dr. went to Chicago and put the first Million GM shares on the Market  (was the first million shares put on in Chicago or New York as so much as been stated by GM historians?
