This is the answer ( unless you know better! )

From Simon Taylor (who I knew would know instantly, so I took the liberty of forwarding the photo).
"Easy. It's the one-off, extended chassis Allard J2 built for faithful Allard customer and exponent Godfrey "Goff" Imhof - who made his money out of the Imhofs Hi-Fi shop in New Oxford Street.
From memory the registration number was something like LXT 5.  The Motor ran a two-page feature on the car when it was first built in, I think, around 1953/54.
Allards didn't make the car - it was Imhof adapting his existing well-used J2, and he got the bodywork made to his own design by someone like Peels of Kingston."
