Raced in Australia’s Group Q&R Sports historic series this car is one of only four "Spyder" models developed in Santa Barbara, California, as the NF-10 and NF-11 models in 1978 and 1979. This Spyder was part of the Paul Newman and Bill Freeman (NF) Racing Team, the car carried sponsorships from Budweiser, the Edmonton Oilers NHL team, and Goodyear. Its drivers included notable names such as future World Champion Keke Rosberg and accomplished American driver Elliot Forbes-Robinson, along with Bobby Rahal, Patrick Depailler, and Randolph Townsend. Today the car faithfully replicates the exact livery and specification it ran in 1979 when driven by Rosberg.
The Budweisier CanAm Lola has been confirmed by its original owner, Bill Freeman, and former Crew Chief Jeff Johnson, as the only surviving original "Spyder" in the world. The verification is supported by an inscription on the front bulkhead and signed letters of authenticity from both Freeman and Johnson. Kluver completed a full restoration in Australia with guidance from former U.S. team members who originally built the car.
