Monterey Auto Museum showcases design models at Monterey Holy Week

Monterey, CA (August 3, 2010) During the week of August 9th to 16th, the Automotive Heritage & Preservation Foundation will showcase its proposal to build a Museum of Automotive Arts in Monterey.

AHPF’s vision will be depicted in conceptual models on display at multiple venues throughout the Monterey Peninsula.

Conceived to honor and recognize the undeniable relationship the automobile has with the Monterey Peninsula, the Museum will pay homage to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and the legendary personalities that fostered, nurtured and sustained the passion for the automobile. The proposed 150,000 sq ft venue is designed to house over One Hundred cars within the Pebble Beach, and Laguna Seca wings and main exhibition hall. In addition the facilities will include an active restoration area, theatre, library, digital media center, members club, full service restaurant, banquet facilities plus an art gallery, history and educational center and retail store.

The Foundation is also working with Monterey Peninsula College and California State University Monterey Bay to develop curriculum based programs to support local education needs. These programs are designed to expand and enhance the economic base and employment opportunities of the peninsula in addition to supporting the Foundation and Museum.

We believe the Monterey Peninsula is the best location in the world to build the Museum. Pebble Beach, Monterey, Carmel and Laguna Seca provide a rich tapestry of automotive histories and personalities in an endless story of challenges and successes. Add to that; it is a natural asset to the area complementing other local destinations like the Monterey Bay Aquarium by providing a true, year round destination for automotive enthusiasts, tourists and community alike.
