Mark Donahue and Chuck Parsons drove this Lola T70 Mk.3B to a win in the 1969 24 Hours of Daytona. The win was a total shock to everyone. The favored factory Porsches failed to finish along with the two Gulf GT40's. All during the race the Donohue Lola had serious fuel pick-up problems and had to pit twice as many times as planned. This put them further and further behind the leaders. That is, until the Porsches and GT40's began to drop out with mechanical problems.

One more bit of history. Mark Donohue designed the fuel pick-up system for the Lola and it failed miserably necessitating extra fuel stops putting them further and further behind the leaders. By shear luck the Porsches and GT40s fell by the wayside allowing the Lola to win. Some speculate that the fuel pick-up problem caused them to take it easy with the Lola thus guaranteeing their win. If all had worked they might have pushed the car to the point where something might have broken.
