I used to race at the Santa Barbara and Lompoc, CA road races held on their respective airports. I now own a former WWII airbase and have thought how neat it would be to have vintage "airport" races. The races could be enhanced by staging vintage era aircraft and equipment. The airfield (see www.eaglefield.net) is located in the Central Valley of California, about 1.5 hours from San Jose, 2.0 hours from Bay Area and 4.0 hours from the LA basin. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am also looking for anyone with films or pictures taken at the Santa Barbara races between 1953 and 1969 (when they ceased racing), particularly those taken between '65 and '69.

Happy Motoring....

Joe...sounds like a great idea.
For vintage racing photos you can try Dennis Gray www.grayincolor.com, an active member of myvrl and a contributing editor/photojournalist to www.sportscargraphic.com, as a great source of vintage racing photos. Dennis is based in San Francisco and also does vintage & racing aircraft photography.

I might also suggest you contact Dale LaFolette via his website: http://www.vintagemotorphoto.com/.

While I'm a vintage car enthusiast, I also belong to the largest Mini Cooper club in Northern California, the Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts (REME). We're alwayslooking for new site to hold events or to attend. The main group is based in the North SF Bay Area & there are also Central Sacramento Valley and Mountain chapter (based in Redding). The club has about 500+ members with both new and classic Minis. We are also associated with two other groups, the NORCAL MINIS (based in the Diablo Valley area) and the Mini Owners of America/San Francisco which is mostly a classic Mini club. If you go to the Mini Group here on myvrl you'll see a recent event put on by REME & held at the SCCA's Thunderhill Raceway that drew close to 100 Minis from the west coast. That event organizer & a Board Member of REME is also a myvrl member, Norm Nelson (norm@redwoodempiremini.com).

Hello, The guy who started and used to own MOSS Motors took hours of 16mm at Santa Barbara and west coast tracks. He was selling a CD with those films. i think you can still find it on the internet. I'll try and find more info.
