CVAR's Inagural Race Event @ Eagles Canyon Raceway

Dear CVAR Members

Please let me know your thoughts about the inaugral race event at ECR, especially your thoughts about the track.

David & Linda Cook are committed to finishing the facilities (e.g. power and water to the paddock areas asap) and will continually strive to make ECR a world-class race venue.

Warmest regards - Stephen Page

Great track! It requires skill and great brakes not a big V8 motor. It give the little guy a chance. The paddock needs Electrical hook-ups and someone to assign parking for big rigs and motorhomes. Dave Hoffman

I think ECR is a fabulous facility and will only get better. Thank you, David and Linda, for a superb effort.

If I ran the world I would do the following:

1. Straighten out and widen the pit exit lane and feed cars into the track some place out of the racing line.

2. Change the pit entrance so that, again, cars are not going slow in the racing line.

3. It is a challenging track but I miss those high speed, take-your-breath-away kind of turns like Turns 1 & 7 at TWS or even the B**** at Hallett. I might be tempted to change Turn 9 at ECR into a high speed, blind, over the hill quick jog and re-enter the existing track at Turn 11.

4. The front straight might need to be longer to accommodate larger grids prior to the green flag.

Turns 5 & 6 are my favorites because they are the most challenging. All in all a great track. Can't wait to run on it when all is finished.

I had a great time at Eagle's Canyon. The weather could have been better, perhaps earlier in the year next time. The only complaints I have about the track are #1, no fast sweeping turns anywhere on the course and #2, turns 1 and 2 are a bit hairy on start. Good luck fixing the March, see you in February!

Stephen,

A few thoughts on ECR. Personal opinion.
--Pavement needs work in several spots. Back straight for one.
--Pit entrance too close to racing line.
--Pit exit turns tight, narrow.
--No high speed turns.

--Challenging and exciting track.
--Good pavement on most of track.
--Good start on facilities.
--A lot of potential.

Overall impression of the track is favorable, but our group only had the one session to run it completely dry. Running it dry was fun!

Proximity to home is a big plus for me.

ECR (track, facilities, finished grounds) has great potential.

Random thoughts on ECR, but first let me state I am not qualified to critique a track.

I love the overall facility. Great building and we know that spectator facilities like stands and bathrooms, electric and water availability and sound system are coming. The view from the “shack” is fabulous even without any grass. I hope they plan a spectator area up there.

I hate the hay bales. I don’t like the ominous look and I’m sure that in an incident they are worse than hitting tires walls. Do you want us to bring our old tires in May?

Wait just a little longer to throw the green flag so more cars can get on the straight. The poor guys in the back will have enough trouble keeping up and the staggered rows are inconsistent with a proper race start.

How is the pace car supposed to set a pace?

The track exit is too close to being “in the line”

The track entry from pits is in the line.

Challenging track but I think there are too many off camber turns and they take away from being able to race against each other. Then again a slipping clutch like my car developed takes away just about all of the fun.

I saw a kid climbing the dirt piles behind the final turn. Track fences need to happen quickly.

Remember, I told you that I’m not a certified track critic. These are just my opinions. BK
